Is 7-zip compatible with windows 7? Does it work on a mac

7-zip is a file archiver that provides the highest ever compression rate when compared to other file archivers available.  Adding a feather to 7-zip is that it is an open source freeware. Hence everyday programmer and developers across the globe make few changes, trouble shoot the version, add advanced features, make it much easy to use and cool to appear and keep it up to date. The latest version can always be downloaded for free from the internet.

So since these features make 7-zip unique it is really important to know if it is compatible with the operating system we use. Let us see that now. First let us look into the 7-zip windows 7 compatibility. It is the best ever file archiver that could be used on windows 7. It is much much faster than WinZip that is the normal file archiver that most windows 7 users prefer. It is also compatible with all the windows operating system.

It not just compresses data but can also be used to recover compressed data. It compresses data in new advanced f 7z format. It compresses data with LZMA compression. However it recovers data from various other compressed data format as well including 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP, WIM, ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB and lots other too. Hence this makes 7-zip even more useful because you can recover data compressed by any other file archiver too. Obvious isn’t it? It is easily the best file archiver for windows 7. Who would miss anything like this?

But looking into the 7-zip mac compatibility the drawback is that it is not as compatible in mac as on windows 7. Hence most mac users prefer keka which is another file archiver available. Even Keka supports files compressed by 7-zip. But nothing can much the speed of 7-zip. However few modified version of 7-zip seems to have been released but with lots of bugs. Thus it is evident that 7-zip is best when used in windows 7 and other operating systems of windows.

Gimp free is free to use. It means that the open source software is free to use who wants to download it. Open office is free to download. The user need not to pay anything to use this software. Any documents or file saved in another office program can be easily read, opened and easily make changes in open office.
